Darrell Brooks Biography

Darrell Brooks Jr. was found liable by a jury on Wednesday for driving through a 2021 Christmas parade, which resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to hundreds of others, and the jury found him guilty on dozens of felony offenses related to the incident.

Tuesday was spent with two hours of deliberation time, and then the jury met again on Wednesday morning.

In total, it took the jury a little more than three hours to find Brooks guilty of all 76 charges presented against him in connection with the attack. These accusations included six counts of first-degree intentional homicide, each of which carries a sentence of mandatory life in prison.

During the reading of the verdict, Brooks looked down, hid his face between his hands, and laid his head on his forehead.

When Brooks’ red Ford Blazer SUV tore through the Christmas parade trial on November 21, 2021, it caused the deaths of at least six persons and injuries to at least 61 more. Along a line of four blocks, the authorities and other people sprung into action to assist victims, while at the same time they started looking for the driver.

People wearing blue Waukesha Strong sweatshirts gathered outside the courtroom before to the announcement of the verdicts, with their heads down and their prayers unsaid.

The Circuit Judge of Waukesha County, Jennifer Dorow, has scheduled a hearing for Monday to determine when to schedule the sentencing, and she has stated that she will permit victims to make impact statements via Zoom.
