Susan Lucci is back on the market! The 76-year-old ageless beauty lost her husband Helmut Herber a year ago in March 2022. Since then, Susan has stayed away from the dating scene. But now, the soap opera queen is ready to hit the dating pool again as the one-year anniversary of her husband’s death approaches. One of her friends said that they had been trying to pick up Lucci with men for a while, but she wasn’t interested.
Now, she finally agreed, albeit reluctantly. “We’ve been trying to get her in touch with good guys for a few months,” a friend of hers revealed. “Ultimately, Susan said yes. Understandably, she’s cautious about being in the public eye. It’s not like she wants to be in a relationship with Pete Davidson, but she’s at least dating again!”

One report indicates that as Lucci finds that the dating scene has changed quite a bit in the many decades she’s been away from it, she’s also set strict boundaries. “Susan has made it clear: there’s no online dating. She’s also ruled out blind dates…she’s leaning on her inner circle to hook her up,” a source said. “However, if a friend has someone she thinks she should meet, you can all go out to dinner together and see what happens,” according to RadarOnline.
While she may now be single and ready to mingle, Lucci had a long-standing, love-filled marriage to Helmut Huber, who also served as her manager. The couple were married for 53 years until Huber’s death in 2022, at the age of 84. He died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Long Island, New York. They have two children, Liza and Andreas.
Of the loss, a representative for the couple said: “Helmut’s death is a tremendous loss to all who knew and loved him. He was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, and friend. The family kindly requests privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
While Huber’s cause of death was never revealed, it is believed that he died of a stroke. This is rumored to be because the family had asked for donations to be made to the American Stroke Association instead of sending flowers to those she left behind.
