Because he didn’t want his wife to know that he had fathered children with other women, a man in Georgia was found guilty of murdering both his wife and his brother-in-law. Shakeema Jackson, a Fulton County deputy, and her brother Levoy Brown were shot and killed in her Covington, Georgia, home on October 27, 2021.
According to a statement from the Newton County District Attorney’s Office, the murderer, Jaquavia Jackson, was scheduled to appear in court alongside Shakeema the following morning after two women “claimed he had fathered children with them,” on the night of the deaths.

“The defendant sent a different person to do the DNA test on his behalf. The court date on the 28th was to address these fabricated DNA tests, and his wife would have learned the full depth of his deceit and lying at that time, according to the statement.
After the killings, the defendant asserted “both on the scene and in an interview at the Sheriff’s Office, that two unknown men entered the house and killed his wife and her brother.” Despite this, “surveillance footage from a neighbor’s Vivent security camera showed no one coming or going from the front of the residence,” the statement read.
“The defendant also called a neighbor from across the street the morning of the killings to inquire about the functionality of his security camera. He was informed that they weren’t, the statement continued, adding that Jaquavia had “fired a staged shot in house.” Jaquavia and Shakeema were parents to a 17-month-old son.
Jaquavia was found guilty on two charges of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of murder with malice, and two counts of having a handgun while committing a crime. After the guilty conviction, he is still being held in the Newton County jail.
District Attorney Randy McGinley described the killings as “a horrific, premeditated incident that took a daughter and a son from a family.” “Nothing will ever be able to compensate for Shakeema and Levoy’s tragic loss. However, this judgment holds the perpetrator accountable for separating them from their family.
