But investigations are taking into account the political ad by Harrigan’s rival, Jackson, which shockingly featured the lakeside property in the town of Hickory that Harrigana claims belongs to him. After the shooting, the ad was removed from syndication.
Pat Harrigan’s mother, Marla Harrigan, 74, according to a report, said “the children have been relocated out of state, as a precaution after the shooting.” For Marla, the campaign has been stressful and the family feels bad for Pat. “It’s just unnerving, especially with the kids there,” Marla said, adding, “This campaign is so stressful and we feel so bad for our son because, you know, he’s terribly stressed for his kids.”

The shooting comes amid heightened concern for the safety of politicians ahead of next week’s by-elections, following Friday’s attack on the 82-year-old husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in his home in San Francisco.
