Salieu, a BRIT Awards nominee who was named the BBC’s Sound of 2021, was jailed for two years and nine months in connection with the Coventry city center attack four years ago. In the early morning of September 1, 2018, a fight broke out near a nightclub that resulted in the stabbing death of Salieu’s friend, 21-year-old Fidel Glasgow, a death for which no one has ever faced charges.

Salieu was part of a group of men who chased another man from the scene. That 23-year-old man was eventually cornered and attacked by the group, and then required emergency surgery and 10 days of recovery in hospital.
Salieu, 25, admitted to a violent disorder after being caught on CCTV hitting the victim with a tree branch multiple times.
He was acquitted in March of a second count of violent disorder related to the earlier fight that resulted in Glasgow’s death.
