He did, however, tell BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg that he did not think “the question was unreasonable” after she said that he had just spoken to his predecessor. Yousaf claimed that when he inquired about Ms. Sturgeon’s wellbeing, she stated “how difficult and traumatic these last few weeks have been”.
Even so, he claimed she was “in a good place and doing well” when he “ran into her a couple of times” in the Scottish Parliament, where he had maintained a very low profile. Yousaf defended his decision to follow her counsel by claiming that she was “arguably one of the best and most impressive politicians Europe has seen in the last two decades.”
On April 5, Mr. Murrell was detained. In the wake of further investigation, he was later released without being charged. In particular, the choice to set up a tent in front of his house has drawn criticism from the couple’s allies, with the previous president of the SNP referring to it as a “grotesque spectacle.”
Murray Foote stated that he would wager £5 on the outcome of the probe being without charges. However, the chief constable of Police Scotland claimed that the operation was being conducted “with integrity.” Sir Iain Livingstone vowed to “fiercely resist” any attempts to influence the outcome of the probe.
He declared that a criminal investigation was being conducted in a “diligent, thorough, and proportionate” manner, and that timetables would be determined by the investigation rather than by political factors. Additionally, it was revealed that the police talked with the National Crime Agency about the ongoing investigation last year and requested that it examine its work on the matter.
