A woman, who was shot to death along with her two children and two other women, has been identified by law enforcement. Mónica Delgado, 38, would have been murdered on Thursday, September 29, by her partner Nicolás Hernández-Jaimes, who also murdered her children Miguel Ávila, 15, and Natallie Ávila, 14, along with Lorena Avilés, 47 years old, and 20-year-old Natalie Aviles in McGregor, Texas.
A day after the horrific incident, the 35-year-old defendant was arrested before being charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Sgt. Ryan Howard of the state Department of Public Safety said Hernandez-Jaimes will face more charges. He added: “This is sad information that I really have to post, and stand up and give you thoughts, prayers and hopes for a successful healing for the McGregor community today.”

The suspect reportedly carried out the attack at approximately 8 am. State Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson testified that the Aviles, who lived near the other three victims, lost their lives after they went to check on them after hearing sounds of gunfire. Both boys attended McGregor High School, Superintendent James Lenamon said. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers are said to be investigating the case. However, the motive behind the murders has yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, a relative of the Avilés, named Ashley Sánchez, shared her pain over the tragedy on Facebook. She wrote: “I am absolutely heartbroken. Today our family lost two beautiful souls. My cousin, Natalie Aviles, and my aunt Lori Aviles. I am still in shock and disbelief. They didn’t deserve this to happen to them and I’ll never understand why.”

May God provide peace and comfort.” The third said: “I’m so sorry, bless your family.” The fourth noted: “I don’t even know how to react to this… my heart hurts… my condolences to everyone.”
“Two beautiful ladies left too soon. I will forever miss that beautiful smile while driving down a rainy street,” one person shared. Another person’s comment read: “I am so sorry for your loss. Those smiles tell us everything we need to know about them and their spirits. They were so beautiful and you could see the happiness emanating from their faces. I send many prayers for you and your family.”
