Three young adults have been arrested in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl at a Peachtree City apartment complex. Madison Gesswein, 15, was found dead by her mother around 6 a.m. Tuesday inside her apartment at The Greens at Braelinn, according to Peachtree City police.
The final cause of death is pending determination by the medical examiner, but authorities say a wound to Madison’s head appears consistent with a gunshot wound. “She was so young,” said Jada Zimbabwe, one of the victim’s friends. “She didn’t do anything to anyone.”

A smiling face is how 15-year-old Gesswein’s friends and family remember her. “She was really sweet,” Zimbabwe said. “Everyone I know liked her. She’s also an outgoing person.” Gesswein’s mother found her and immediately called 911.
“She’s bleeding from the head,” her mother said by phone. Police say detectives quickly arrested three 18-year-old suspects, all known to the victim.They identify themselves as Justus Smith, Jacobean Brown and Yeshua Mathis, all from Fayetteville. Each faces a murder charge.
“This was not a random act,” said Peachtree City Deputy Police Chief Matt Myers. “They knew what department they were in, and it was somehow related to matters between these individuals.” So far, investigators have not identified a specific motive or how the three suspects got into the apartment.
During the 911 call, her mother said her daughter’s bedroom door was locked when she woke up. “I walked in through the bedroom door, her bedroom window is open and the blinds are a mess,” her mother said. That window is now part of the investigation.
“That window was taken by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Unit in its entirety for evidence processing,” Myers said. “That’s why there was a bag covering a window.” For Gesswein’s friend, this loss hurts. “It’s so scary to know that someone so close was killed, so brutally,” Zimbabwe said.
All three suspects are now in custody at the Fayette County Jail. Authorities say additional charges may be issued as the investigation continues. Police say this is the first murder in Peachtree City in about nine months.
