A woman was heard on disturbing CCTV audio stabbing her husband after he allegedly hit her during an argument. Jean-Louise Herholdt and her husband Sean Murray were heard shouting at each other and banging on doors in CCTV footage played at Brisbane High Court on Tuesday 15 November. Herholdt allegedly stabbed the father of three in the back with a 12-inch knife after getting involved in a heated altercation at her home on Murrumba Downs in north Brisbane.
The fight apparently started after Murray allegedly took the cash that Herholdt said she had been saving up to dump him. As reported by the Courier Mail, the nurse was heard on audio saying, “I hope you die, dog,” before she allegedly plunged the knife into his back. Murray was heard trying to calm her wife down, saying, “No, stop, stop. Stop. Let’s go,” after allegedly hitting her in front of a friend and neighbors of hers.

A call to police played in court revealed that Herholdt told her husband after her stabbing: “I love you, honey. I love you … you know I’m going to jail for this.” Defense attorney Andrew Hoarse gave his client’s version of what was happening on the audio footage. “In between those recordings, my client was being beaten in her front yard and then dragged back inside,” he told the court.
Hoare said Murray had been trying to calm his wife down before police arrived, which he said was his standard practice. The attorney alleged that Herholdt had been a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband for years prior to her stabbing. The couple married in 2019 and had two children together.
Responding officers revealed that the father of Herholdt’s third child had also been staying at the residence at the time of the incident. He allegedly locked the children in one of the bedrooms so they wouldn’t have to witness their parents fight.
Herholdt reportedly administered first aid to her husband after her stabbing and told her ex-partner to call an ambulance. She claimed that the fight started that same day when Murray found a stash of money that she had secretly kept in her bedroom.
The court heard that Herholdt had planned to use the “nest eggs” to start a new life as Murray had controlled her financially. However, the nurse was heard on the audio footage asking her husband where the money was as he lay dying.
