Before an officer calls to the suspect to “stop moving, stop moving,” the assailant, who is now on the ground, is shot many more times by police. One of the attacker’s arms moves, giving the impression that they are still alive. When another officer yells “suspect down, suspect down,” another officer yells “throw your hands away from the gun, get your hands away from the pistol.”
The attacker’s weapons, which included a rifle, are then seen lying near to Hale’s body in the Tennessee Covenant School’s second-floor attack on Monday morning. A second video uses bodycam footage from Officer Michael Collazo to present the incident from a different perspective.
With the second round of gunfire, after the suspect had already fallen to the ground, he is seen aiming his pistol at Hale. As shown on film, some of the officers stormed the facility minutes earlier and moved from one unoccupied classroom to another before ascending to the second story.
The video shows officers running past what looks to be a victim and down a hallway before entering a lounge area where the suspect is seen slumping to the ground after being shot. According to police, the suspect was murdered during a dispute with the policemen. Officer Engelbert is seen at the beginning of the six-minute police footage taking a weapon out of his car trunk before a staff member takes him to the door and informs him that the school has been locked down but that at least two students are still missing.

Prior to the murders, Hale entered the building by shooting through its doors. He also carried a manifesto and blueprints of the institution. Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney, all nine years old, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61-year-old school groundskeeper Mike Hill, and superintendent Katherine Koonce, 60, have been identified as the six victims.
