A 23-year-old man has reportedly been arrested for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend 15 times because she wouldn’t return his calls or text messages. Carlos Lemont Jones reportedly turned himself in after murdering Sha’Dayla A Johnson. According to Fox 6, the incident took place on Tuesday, December 20 at Colbert Circle near East University Boulevard, according to police.
Jones reportedly told police that he was “angry” that Johnson was not returning calls or messages from her. According to the affidavit, as Johnson was driving to work in the morning, Jones shot him in the back 15 times just outside her home. According to the Center Daily Times, he drove to his house shortly after 7:30 a.m. m. because he knew that she had to arrive at her workplace at 8 am. m.

Johnson’s father, Torrance, reportedly told police that he came out when he heard the shots and saw his daughter lying face down on the ground. He also saw Jones looking toward the house. Jones and Johnson lived together until they decided to call it quits after they had an argument two weeks earlier.
Torrance reportedly told police that Jones had been “continually calling and harassing Sha’Dayla in an effort to get back to her,” according to Fox 6. According to the outlet, Jones’ mother convinced him to turn himself in to the police. Under questioning, he reportedly said that he bought the gun a week ago.
He further said that he had no remorse for what he had done and that if he had to do it again, he would “kill Johnson and her father.” According to Law & Crime, Jones is being held in the Brevard County Jail for first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
