The condition of an Australian artist, Rolf Harris, whose life took a drastic turn in 2013 when he was arrested for sexually assaulting underage girls, worsened after he was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The Daily Mail, citing the musician’s neighbors and friends, reported that he is now “seriously ill” and “can’t eat anymore.”
The 92-year-old, who was released from prison in 2017, is reportedly now living a reclusive life in the Berkshire village of Bray, England, with his sculptor wife Alwen Hughes, whom he married in 1958. It was also claimed that her partner’s condition was also not good since he has alzheimer’s.

Reports also said Harris’s health deteriorated after her beloved poodle died in early 2022. A neighbor of the veteran TV personality, Portia Wooderson, said: “Only the keepers and nurses, who look after him 24 hours a day. hours come and go. They told me that he can no longer eat.” Private investigator and author William Merritt also described Harris as “gravely ill” before stating:
“(He) is battling cervical cancer and gargles when he speaks. It’s hard to understand, but he’s still the cheerleader. As soon as one of the two people enters the room, he turns back into a big boy. He is an artistic guy and will try to act on cue even when he is not feeling well.”
However, this is not the first time that his health has worsened. It was reported that when he was behind bars after being convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault, he was admitted to a hospital after his diabetes got out of control. A neighbor of his claimed in 2019: “He has health problems and it has gotten worse rapidly. He no longer goes out and when he does it is only with his caretaker”.
Meanwhile, the ‘Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport’ singer has never given a direct statement after being released from jail five years ago. However, in a book, ‘Rolf Harris: The Defense Team’s Special Investigator Reveals the Truth Behind the Trials,’ Merritt reportedly stated,
“I understand that we live in the post-truth era and I know that few You guys will want to know what really happened during the three criminal trials I faced it’s easier to convict me and compare me to people like Saville and Glitter I was convicted of crimes I didn’t commit at my first trial that’s not just my opinion but the opinion of the Court of Appeal that overturned one of my convictions. I had already served my prison sentence at the time of the appeal.”
Harris explained, “I changed my legal team after the first trial, and they told me that if the truth was out there, William (Merritt) would find it and he did. The evidence he found proved my innocence to two subsequent juries,” before adding, “I would be in prison serving time for crimes I didn’t commit if it wasn’t for William’s investigation. It’s hard to put into words the injustice I feel.”
